Before hitting the real money roulette I decided to use free online roulette and try out some systems that are known to be popular among roulette players – Martingales and My Lucky Number System. The name of the second one I made up myself, because it deserves to have a name.

I consider number 14 to be my lucky number, so that was the first number I placed my first 5 point stake on. After the first spin I realised that I’m probably not one of those who get lucky straight away. So I gave it another spin and then another 23 spins. On the 25th spin the ball landed on the chosen number and I recovered all my losses. I must admit that if I played for real, I would have never dared to keep waiting for the ball to land on my number for that long. I lost over 120 of whatever their play currency was and if it was real money, I would have chickened out on the 5th spin. Does it mean that luck favours those who persist? Not necessarily. If European roulette wheel has 37 pockets, it doesn’t mean that within 37 spins each number has to show up at least once. But if you keep betting the same amount of money for a bit longer, after the 37th spin you won’t be able to win enough to compensate for your previous losses, unless you increase your stakes.

Martingale system requires you to double up your stake every time you lose, so again I started with a fiver in case I have to increase the amount significantly. The first spin earned me extra money, but for the next 6 spins I was only loosing and doubling up. On the 8th spin free online roulette had mercy on me and I won everything back, plus gained 10 more points. It turns out you can eventually win, if you manage to stay within the betting limit and have the balls to actually raise your stakes as required.
As opposed to My Lucky Number strategy, Martingales appears to be more moving. It allows juggling with money and tickling your nerves without over-betting if you don’t bet significant amounts of cash. And if you are still not sure which system to choose, don’t worry, free online roulette will endure anything and you won’t get charged for your most risky attempts.
